How many Clips & Wedges to use
The number of clips and wedges needed per square meter when using a tile leveling system can vary based on factors such as the size of the tiles, the thickness of the tiles, and the specific requirements of the leveling system being used.
Here’s a general guideline:
For most standard tile leveling systems, a common recommendation is to use approximately 4 to 5 clips per linear meter (running along the edges of the tile) and an additional 8 to 10 clips per square meter (covering the entire tile). The number of wedges used corresponds to the number of clips, so for each clip, you'll need a wedge.
For example:
- Larger tiles, such as 600mm x 600mm, may need around 11 rclips and wedges per square meter.
- 300mm x 300mm tiles might require around 44 clips and wedges per square meter, which is 4 x more because there are more grout gaps with smaller tiles.
The speed at which your tiler can tile also plays a factor in how many wedges you need. See the article here.
These are our recommendations but different systems may have variations in their requirements. Follow these manufacturer's guidelines to ensure the effectiveness of the leveling system and the quality of the tile installation.
